ICC Women’s T20 WC Africa Qualifier Division 2: Sierra Leone Thrash Eswatini In 149-Run Victory

Sierra Leone Women defeated Eswatini Women by 149 runs in Match 7 of Group B at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 2 on Monday, 21 July, at Botswana Cricket Association Oval 1.

The match began with Eswatini Women winning the toss and electing to bowl against Sierra Leone Women, but the decision didn’t go in their favour.

Opting to bat first, Sierra Leone Women posted a strong total of 190/6 in their 20 overs. Emma Kamara anchored the innings with a composed 71 off 60 balls, supported by quick contributions from Aminata Kamara (18), Marie Turay (23), and Ann Kamara (13), keeping the run rate healthy throughout.

Eswatini Women, who had won the toss and chosen to bowl, struggled to contain the flow of runs. They managed to pick up wickets through five different bowlers, but Sierra Leone’s batting depth ensured a challenging target of 191 was set.

In response, Eswatini Women faltered from the start and never recovered, crawling to 41/8 in their 20 overs. None of the top-order batters could find any rhythm, with only Nothando Mabila offering some resistance with an unbeaten 20 off 18 balls. The rest of the lineup struggled against a disciplined Sierra Leone attack.

Aminata Kamara starred with the ball, picking up 3 wickets, while Emma Kamara chipped in with 2. Linda Bull, Celina Bull, and a run-out added to Eswatini’s woes, as their chase never got going.

In the end, Sierra Leone sealed a crushing 149-run win to continue their dominance in Group B.
