Scotland delivered a commanding performance in their Group C clash against debutants Italy, cruising to a convincing 73-run victory at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

After Italy won the toss and chose to bowl, Scotland put up a massive 207/4, their highest score in T20 World Cup history. Opener George Munsey set the tone with a destructive 84 off 54 balls, and Brandon McMullen added a quick-fire 41 not out off 18 to take the total past the 200-run mark. Michael Leask’s late cameo further boosted Scotland’s total and gave them a formidable target to defend.

Italy’s chase never got going, as they were bundled out for 134 in 16.4 overs, well short of the target. Ben Manenti provided some resistance with a fifty, but Scotland’s bowlers applied relentless pressure throughout.

Leask finished with an impressive 4/17, while the rest of the attack supported well to secure Scotland’s first win of the tournament. The victory not only gave Scotland crucial points but also ended Italy’s World Cup debut hopes in emphatic fashion.
