Peshawar Zalmi clinched their second Pakistan Super League title in a dramatic final at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, defeating tournament debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets on May 3, Sunday.
Babar Azam’s Zalmi, who finished top of the table with 8 wins in 10 matches, entered as favorites after a dominant season, while Marnus Labuschagne-led Kingsmen aimed to cap off a remarkable comeback campaign with their maiden title.
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Peshawar’s disciplined bowling attack dismantled the Hyderabad lineup. The Kingsmen found it difficult to build momentum, eventually being restricted to a modest 129 all out in 18 overs.
Saim Ayub provided the lone resistance for the Kingsmen with a fighting 54 off 50 balls, but the pressure applied by Peshawar’s bowlers proved too much. Aaron Hardie was the standout performer with the ball, spearheading the effort with a clinical four-wicket haul (4/24).
In the run chase, Peshawar Zalmi faced early turbulence. Top-order pillars Mohammad Haris, Kusal Mendis, and captain Babar Azam fell cheaply, reducing the team to a precarious 40/4. Just as Hyderabad sensed an upset, the match turned on a composed 85-run partnership between Abdul Samad (48) and the Player of the Match, Aaron Hardie.

Hardie remained unbeaten on 56, sealing an all-round masterclass—becoming the first player to achieve a four-wicket haul and a half-century in a PSL final. Peshawar reached the target of 130 in just 15.2 overs, ending the franchise's trophy drought and sparking euphoric celebrations across the Yellow Storm faithful.
The victory cemented a historic season for Peshawar, with teammate Sufiyan Muqeem recognized as the Player of the Tournament for his consistent contributions throughout the campaign.
