Pakistan U19 captain Farhan Yousaf won the toss and opted to bat first in today's match.
It was going pretty well for Pakistan so far, with a 40-run partnership developing between Minhas and Usman. However, Naseem gets the breakthrough in the final over of the first powerplay, with Usman being caught by the skipper Rai. Pakistan U19 lose their first, with Ali Hassan Baloch coming on as the new batter.
Baloch was not looking comfortable at all, and his innings comes to an end at just two off 10 balls, holing out Rai – his second catch of the day. Ahmed Hussain is the new batter for PAK U19.
Pakistan's slow and steady innings has continued to trickle with a run rate of just over four-an-over. Minhas and Hussain have built up a solid partnership, with the former nearing his half-century. UAE need a wicket to break this pairing.
Commentators' curse?! Minhas, the set batter for Pakistan U19, gets caught behind by the wicketkeeper, just six runs short of what would have been a deserved half-century. This is the wicket that UAE would have wanted, and they are right back in the game. The skipper, Yousaf, comes on as the new batter, and opens his account with a four.
It has been a scratchy innings by Pakistan U19 so far, but they cross the 100-run mark with the innings half-way done. What the young Shaheens need is for a partnership between Yousaf and Hussain.
Yousaf was looking like the one most likely to hit the big shots, but the skipper is caught plumb on the pads by Yug Sharma, and he departs for 20 off 25. Huzaifa Ahsan is the new batter, and he takes a single off his first ball.
With Hussain labouring along towards his half-century at one end, Ahsan was the one taking the risky shots, but he pays the price after holing it to Misbah. He departs for 23 off 26 balls, and Hamza Zahoor is the new batter for PAK U19. The current run rate is just below four-and-half.
Pakistan are struggling for runs against UAE with 177 on the board and nine overs remaining. UAE could get back into the game here with some quick wickets in the middle-overs.
There was a flurry of wickets in the last five overs, with Yug Sharma ending the innings with three scalps. Hamza Zahoor's 42-run knock was crucial for Pakistan U19, taking their total to 241. Will it be enough against an in-form Emirati batting line-up? A big chase awaits.
UAE openers- Ayaan Misbah (16*) and Yayin Kiran (3) Rai got their team to a decent start in the chase of 241 against a strong Pakistan bowling attack.
Abdul Subhan gives the Shaheens their first breakthrough in the form of Yayin Kiran Rai, who departs for 13 runs. Zainullah Rehmani comes to the crease now to join the in-form Ayaan Misbah.
Abdul Subhan gives Pakistan their 2nd breakthrough as he dismissed Zainullah Rehmani for a duck. UAE need a big partnership to give competition to Pakistan.
Ayaan Misab (63*) along with Prithvi Madhu (10*) has stabilized UAE's chase after two back-to-back wickets. However, they still need this partnership to go on for much longer to get to a comfortable position.
Despite losing the in-form Ayaan Misbah (77), UAE are still going strong against Pakistan in the chase of 242. They still need 105 runs in 22 overs to win the match.
Just as things were looking in control, UAE's middle-order collapsed resulting in their chase getting off the track. UAE lost their last wickets in just 8 runs going from 142/3 to 150/6 in no time. Saleh Amin and Muhammad Bazid Asim are on the crease now with UAE still needing 88 runs in 16 overs.
UAE are bundled for just 171 by the Pakistani bowlers. They went from 142/2 to 171 all out, losing 8 wickets for 29 runs. Abdul Subhan picked 4 wickets to break the back of UAE's middle-order in the chase.
That's a wrap from our end. We'll be back with another blog soon, until then, bye bye.
