The news in Out! Pakistan have won the toss and elected to bowl first in the finals.
Pakistan (Playing XI): Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Salman Agha(c), Fakhar Zaman, Usman Khan(w), Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Salman Mirza, Abrar Ahmed
Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara, Kusal Mendis(w), Kusal Perera, Janith Liyanage, Dasun Shanaka(c), Pavan Rathnayake, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Eshan Malinga
Sri Lanka gets off to a decent start in the 1st over of Shaheen Afridi by getting 8 runs on the board courtesy a beautiful cover drive by Kamil Mishara.
Bowled! Shaheen Afridi strikes again with the new ball as he cleans up dangerous Pathum Nissanka with a good slower delivery that keeps a little low and beats his bat to rattle the stumps.
Despite losing Pathum Nissanka early, Kamil Mishara didn't let the run-rate slow down and gave SL a blazing start in the powerplay. Abrar Ahmad comes to bowl and a crucial phase starts for SL from here.
Pakistan are climbing back into the game slowly as they clinch the 3rd Lankan wicket. Kusal Mendis backed himself to clear the long-off boundary on the bowling off Mohammad Nawaz but could not do so and finds Babar Azam who takes the catch comfortably.
Kusal Mendis goes in the air and he's gone too. SL are now in a spot of bother as they lose 2 back-to-back wickets to spin. PAK spinners have brought them back into the game.
What a historic collapse from Sri Lanka, from 98/2, they are all-out on 114. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz picks 3 each whereas Abrar Ahmad gets 2. Pakistan need 115 runs to win the Tri-series final against Sri Lanka.
Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub stride out to begin the chase, with Farhan taking strike and Theekshana kicking things off. First ball skids in on the pads, Farhan works it towards mid-wicket but can’t pierce the gap, a quiet start, no run.
Saim Ayub finishes the over in style, rocking back to a short one and thumping the pull towards deep backward square. It skims away, beating the fielder and crashing into the rope, just a whisker short of going all the way.
Hasaranga teases Babar Azam with a tossed-up delivery on middle and leg, but Babar keeps it under control with a solid defense. The very next ball, he finds the gap through covers and nudges it away for a quick single.
Salman Agha makes Chameera pay, rocking back to a short, wide delivery and cutting it crisply over backward point for four. The ball sits up perfectly, and Agha uses the room to carve it past the infield, spoiling what looked like an easy over.
Babar Azam hits it towards the backwards point boundary and Pakistan wins the tri-series final to clinch the trophy at home. Pakistan were clinical throughout the tournament and eventually went on to win the finals too thumping Sri Lanka in a one-sided affair.
That's a Wrap from our side, we'll be back with another blog, until then, bye bye.
