Nepal ended a 12-year T20 World Cup drought by securing a historic seven-wicket victory over Scotland in their final Group C match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Set a challenging target of 171 after Scotland posted 170/7, Nepal’s chase looked competitive from the outset as openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh laid a solid foundation with a 74-run stand, keeping their side firmly in the hunt.
The game shifted dramatically in Nepal’s favour thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 50 off just 23 balls from Dipendra Singh Airee, whose explosive hitting tilted the momentum and silenced the Scottish bowlers. Gulsan Jha also provided vital support with a quick cameo, steering Nepal toward the target with calculated aggression.
