The Nepal women's cricket team rode three-wicket hauls from seamers Kabita Kunwar and Rajmati Airee to defeat Malaysia by five wickets in the in the fifth and final T20 international at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (October 8, 2025). Nepal thus came from 1-2 down to clinch the series 3-2.

Bowling first, Nepal restricted Malaysia to a modest 103-run total for seven wickets in 20 overs. Kunwar returned figures of 3/16 in four overs, while Airee conceded 15 runs for her three wickets in three overs.

In response, the visiting team got to the 104-run target in 18 overs, losing five wickets in the bargain. Wicketkeeper-opener Rubi Poddar top-scored with 26 runs off 25 balls, while Rubina Chhetry stayed not out for a run-a-ball 15 to guide her team to victory.

Nepal had earlier won the fourth match by six wickets. Chasing a 112-run target, the tourists faced early trouble, losing four wickets for 54 runs, but the partnership between skipper Indu Barma (48) and Rubina Chhetry (23) for the fifth wicket, proved to be the turning point.

They built together an unbeaten 61-run stand and took the game away from Malaysia women.
