The 42-year-old paceman known for his exemplary swing bowling had last played a T20 game 3935 days ago in 2014. That was a game between Lancashire and Warwickshire in T20 Blast 2014.
On his T20 return, Anderson was up against the Durham batting line-up. As expected, the legend, who is the highest wicket-taker among pacers in Test cricket, took the shining new white ball. And just as expected, he started taking wickets.
In his very first over, the swing bowler troubled the Durrham openers and gave away just three runs. In his second, the legend got the wicket of opposition opener G Clarke. He was handed one more over in the powerplay and the pacer brought one more wicket as he dismissed AZ Lees in the third over of the spell.
Anderson would get one more wicket later in his last over to finish with three wickets for 17 runs in four overs.
Interestingly, Anderson, who retired from Test cricket as one of the greats of the game just about a year back, had also put his name for the Indian Premier League auction ahead of the 2025 season. However, he was not shortlisted for the final list and thus could not feature in the auction.
