Georgia Voll and Beth Mooney are at the crease. Renuka Singh opened the bowling for the Women in Blue. A decent over, ended with Australians getting off the mark.
Australia get off to a cautious but steady start. Georgia Voll is looking to be the aggressor while Beth Mooney has started slow, giving herself time out on the crease. Australia look to start with a consolidated approach.
Unlike the first match, Australia get off to a very good start in the powerplay. Georgia Voll is the one who has taken on the Indian bowlers and has scored bulk of the runs. The last two overs of the powerplay have been specifically very expensive. Voll is nearing her half-century while Mooney holds the other end.
Georgia Voll has completely demolished the Indian bowlers in the first ten overs. Beth Mooney has only anchored the innings from one end and rotated to give strike to Voll. Voll has found boundaries of every Indian bowler and looking in ominous touch.
Australia are currently dominating at the Manuka Oval. They are yet to lose a wicket and India Women are at the mercy of the two openers out on the crease. Voll is going strong and finding the boundaries while Mooney keeps one end stable, rotating the strike. Harmanpreet Kaur is out of options here.
Finally the breakthrough comes from Team India. Fullish ball outside off, angled across, Beth Mooney looked to go big and has found the fielder at mid-on. Failed to beat that fielder due to not getting elevation. It is not a relief for India as Voll is still out on the crease and Ashleigh Gardner has joined her.
India Women vs Australia Women LIVE Score, 2nd T20I: AUS-W 144/7 (17)
Finally Georgia Voll departs after a sensational knock of 88 runs of 57 deliveries. Reddy goes full again and Voll heaves it to the onside. Doesn't get the gap and Amanjot Kaur takes a good catch after momentarily losing it in the lights. Big relief for the Indian bowlers.
India have made a mini comeback in the game as they now take the wicket of Phoebe Litchfield early. Litchfield got under a fuller ball from Renuka Singh but as the ball lobbed towards the cover point, Smriti Mandhana dived and narrowly got her fingers under the ball. Third umpire said out on review. Excellent catch by Mandhana.
Only 5 runs and two wickets from the last over. India have pulled things back brilliantly after things looked bleak for them at one point. Australia were 103 from 12 overs but only scored 60 runs in the next 48 balls. Once Beth Mooney was dismissed, their innings collapsed and the Indian bowlers did a good job led by Arundhati Reddy. Sree Charani bowled a tight last over as well. Perry and Wareham were run out is consecutive deliveries. India will back themselves to chase this score down.
Off-spinner Ashleigh Gardner takes the new ball for Australia, as they set out to defend a 164-run target. Shafali Verma is unperturbed, throwing the kitchen sink at her straight away and nicking one to the deep third boundary. The ever-reliable Smriti Mandhana giving her company.
IND-W: 9/0 (1)
India off to a rollicking start! Shafali Verma hits the ground running and Smriti Mandhana follows suit, stroking seven boundaries in the first five overs to bring the required run rate down below eight an over. Australia under pressure to respond promptly.
Finally a breakthrough for Australia and they scalp the crucial wicket of Shafali Verma. Shafali gets down to sweep but misses the faster arm ball from Sophie Molineux. Gets trapped LBW and departs after a solid hand.
India Women lose their second quickly after Shafali Verma's wicket. It is Jemimah Rodrigues who departs this time and the wicket taker is once again Ash Gardner. Jemimah tries to force things by dancing down the track and taking on Gardner. Miscues the connection and the long-on takes a simple catch. Australia building pressure.
Australia were thirteen runs ahead of India at the same stage without losing any wicket and their innings dipped since the. India has lost some quick wickets earlier including that of Smriti Mandhana. Mandhana was caught behind as Kim Garth's delivery took a slight nick of her bat. India have to use the next two overs to good advantage to stay ahead in the chase.
18 runs in the last three overs. While India have not lost any wickets, the innings has not progressed much in these three overs. Pressure is building upon them and they need to accelerate very quickly now. Asking rate is steadily rising.
Three wickets in in two overs and India are almost out of the game. The pressure was continuously piling on them and that has resulted in Harmanpreet, Richa and Deepti departing in a matter of few balls. Harmanpreet tried to hit Kim Garth down the ground only to find the mid-off. In the next over Gardner returns to first stump Richa and then fox Deepti to hit one to the hands of the mid-off fielder yet again. Australia nearing a victory here.
Australia secure a comprehensive 19-run victory and they equalise the three-match series 1-1 after two games. Sophie Molineux's side bring out an all-round performance to trump India in the second T20I. Batted first and scored a competitive 163/5. Georgia Voll's 88 laid the foundation for the total. Chasing it, India started well, but once Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana were dismissed, Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa Ghosh slowed down and Australia kept building the pressure on to trigger a collapse. Gardner scalps a three-wicket haul and was the pick of the Australia bowlers.
