A Gritty Display Down The Order

Resuming his innings overnight on 7 with India placed at 300 for 5, Jurel weathered early turbulence after debutant Saransh Jain fell quickly. He found an ideal partner in Rishabh Pant, and the duo orchestrated a crucial counter-attacking partnership that frustrated the Sri Lankan bowlers through a dominant first session.

Jurel showcased exemplary defense against the probing lengths of Asitha Fernando and expertly handled the spin threat posed by Prabath Jayasuriya. After a rain delay left him stranded on 95 during the afternoon session, Jurel kept his composure upon the resumption of play and scampered through for the landmark single in the 136th over to bring up a memorable hundred.
