India Vs South Africa, 1st Test: Proteas Script Historic 30-Run Win At Eden Gardens

Simon Harmer claimed four wickets in the fourth innings to help South Africa beat India by 30 runs in the first Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Sunday. Chasing a 124-run target on Day 3, India could manage only 93/9 with captain Shubman Gill unavailable with a neck injury. In the low-scoring match, the Temba Bavuma-led ICC World Test Championship holders conceded 30 runs, interestingly, in the first innings, but India failed to capitalise on the lead and lost a home Test match to the Proteas for the first time in 15 years. The second and final Test in Guwahati is scheduled for November 22 to 26.
