India began their Women’s Asia Cup 2026 campaign with a commanding 94-run win over Thailand in Dubai. Batting first, India posted 159/9, with Shafali Verma leading the way with a blistering 64 off 36 balls. However, the middle order struggled as India slipped from 101/2 to 137/9. The bowlers then took complete control, dismissing Thailand for just 65 in 16.1 overs. Nandani Sharma and Deepti Sharma claimed three wickets each, while Deepti’s extraordinary 3/0 in 1.1 overs also made her the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is.

Smriti Mandhana is on strike as India’s innings gets underway, with Shafali Verma joining her at the other end. Iqra Sahar has the new ball and will open the attack for Hong Kong. The stage is set for an explosive start.

A steady start for India! Smriti Mandhana has settled in with four runs, while Shafali Verma has opened her account. Iqra Sahar concedes five from the opening over as India move to 5/0 after one.

India step on the accelerator in the second over! Kary Chan concedes 11 runs, including a couple of wides, as Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma move India to 16/0 after two overs. Mandhana leads the way with 9, while Shafali is on 5.

What a powerplay for India! Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana have gone on the offensive, taking India to 60/0 after six overs. Shafali is flying at 28 off 12, while Mandhana has reached 30 off 24. Marina Lamplough’s second over goes for 22 as India finish the powerplay in dominant fashion.

Shafali Verma’s explosive knock comes to an end! The opener falls for 28 off 17 balls, caught brilliantly by Marina Lamplough at long-on off Ruchitha Venkatesh. India lose their first wicket at 74/1 after 8 overs, but Mandhana is still going strong on 44*.

Drinks bring a brief pause, but India remain comfortably placed at 85/1 after 10 overs. Shafali’s departure has slowed things slightly, yet Mandhana is holding the innings together on 48*. Hong Kong have shown discipline in patches, but they need another wicket quickly to put India under pressure.

Another wicket for Hong Kong, but Smriti Mandhana continues her spectacular assault! Harmanpreet Kaur falls for 10 off 9, caught at deep off Marina Lamplough. India move to 185/4 after 19 overs, with Mandhana marching on at a breathtaking 120 off 62 balls. One over remains!

A dramatic end to an extraordinary innings! Smriti Mandhana is run out for a sensational 124 off 64 balls, featuring 14 fours and seven sixes, after a mix-up with Bharti Fulmali. What a way to end a record-breaking knock. India finish on 193/5 after 20 overs.

Kranti Gaud has the new ball for India as Natasha Miles takes strike, with Mariko Hill at the non-striker’s end. Hong Kong will be hoping for a steady start.

Nandani Sharma strikes again! Mariko Hill is bowled for a duck as the pacer gets one to swing back in sharply and crashes through the gap between bat and pad. Hong Kong are in early trouble at 3/1.

Hong Kong are slowly trying to rebuild after losing Mariko Hill early. Yasmin Daswani and Natasha Miles are looking to settle in, but India continue to keep the pressure on with disciplined bowling. Shafali Verma concedes just four runs from the over as Hong Kong move to 8/1 after five overs.

Deepti Sharma strikes! Yasmin Daswani’s struggle comes to an end as she tries to break free but holes out to Bharti Fulmali at short mid-wicket. Deepti pushed the ball fuller and Daswani could only heave it straight to the fielder. Hong Kong slip to 29/2 after nine overs.

Prema Rawat strikes! Hong Kong captain Natasha Miles’ patient stay comes to an end as she edges a quicker, turning delivery through to Richa Ghosh behind the stumps. Miles departs for 15 off 27, leaving Hong Kong in deeper trouble at 32/3 after 10 overs. India’s spinners are keeping a firm grip on the innings.

Prema Rawat is running through Hong Kong! Kary Chan goes for the big shot but fails to get enough power, handing Shafali Verma a simple catch at long-on. Chan departs for 1 off 6, leaving Hong Kong four down. Maryam Bibi responds with a boundary off the final ball, but India remain firmly on top at 40/4 after 12 overs.

Nandani Sharma strikes again! Maryam Bibi goes for the big shot but fails to generate enough power, picking out Shafali Verma at long-on. The slower delivery takes the pace away and Hong Kong lose their fifth wicket at 53/5 after 14 overs. Nandani now has 2/6 from three overs, while Marina Lamplough remains at the crease.

Shree Charani joins the party! Marina Lamplough gets a leading edge while trying to work the ball on the leg side, but Nandani Sharma charges in at cover and takes a superb low catch. Lamplough departs for 14 off 15, leaving Hong Kong 55/6 after 15 overs.

WHAT A CHAOTIC OVER! Deepti Sharma tears through Hong Kong’s lower order with two wickets before Joyleen Kaur is run out on the final ball. Alison Siu is bowled attempting a slog-sweep, while Iqra Sahar top-edges her sweep to Richa Ghosh. Deepti also becomes the leading wicket-taker in this format. Hong Kong are now 56/9 after 16 overs, with just one wicket remaining.

Shree Charani finishes the job as Shanzeen Shahzad charges down the track but misses the tossed-up delivery. Richa Ghosh makes no mistake behind the stumps, completing the stumping and sealing a dominant victory for India.

Smriti Mandhana’s stunning 124 off 64 powered India to 193/5 before Deepti Sharma’s three wickets and two each from Nandani Sharma, Prema Rawat and Charani dismantled Hong Kong. India become the first team to qualify for the knockouts and register their second-biggest T20I win by runs.
