India vs England 4th Test: Fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has joined the Indian Test squad for the last two matches in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series as cover for the injured Arshdeep Singh, media reports said. Ahead of the fourth Test match at Old Trafford, Manchester, Arshdeep sustained an injury to his left hand, prompting the addition of Kamboj to the squad.

According to a report by The Indian Express, a BCCI source revealed that Arshdeep had cuts and stitches on his left arm, requiring 10 days for recovery. Reportedly, the injury happened as a result of Arshdeep trying to stop a shot from Sai Sudharsan during a practice session on Thursday. As a result, the Indian selectors have chosen Kamboj to be a part of the last two matches.

“Arshdeep has a deep cut and has had stitches, he will take at least ten days to get completely fit. The selectors have decided to add Kamboj to the squad,” the source said.

24-year-old Anshul Kamboj starred for the India A squad against England Lions in June, taking five wickets in two unofficial Test matches and scoring a half-century.

He was in sublime form in domestic cricket for Haryana as well, taking all 10 wickets to fall in an innings in a Ranji Trophy fixture against Kerala – becoming only the third bowler to do so.

With the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series tied at 2-1, India will look to secure a win at Manchester to keep the series alive. Arshdeep’s injury may force the Men in Blue to rethink their bowling combination.

“We’ll take a call on the combination we play,” assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said, as per the Times of India. “Particularly given the Arshdeep situation as well, we’ll make that call closer to Manchester.”
