India Vs England: Prasidh Krishna Talks About Leaking Runs, Lower Order Batting Woes

Prasidh Krishna did not have a great start to his England tour. He got out quickly when India were in a position to press on the advantage and conceded runs at a rapid pace as England took the game away from the visitors. India lost the first Test to England by five wickets and Krishna had a forgettable outing. However, the lanky Karnataka pacer has vowed to bounce back ahead of the second Test at Edgbaston.

Krishna leaked over 200 runs in the Test match and went over 6 runs per over. Analysing his performance, the pacer said he could not get his length right.

"If I look at the first innings, I was a little too short than where I wanted to be, 6-8 is ideal. Second innings it got slightly better, because again, the wicket was slightly slower. I had to pitch a few slightly behind 8, and go slightly fuller, when I am trying to get a wicket," Prasidh said at a press conference. "I definitely did not bowl the lengths that I wanted to. It took me some time to get used to the slope on that side. No reasons, but I should be able to do it as a professional. I take complete responsibility about it, and maybe, do it better next time."

"Every time I come out to bowl, I was definitely looking to bowl a maiden. I am not really trying to give away boundaries or anything. The outfield was fast. The lengths, lines that I bowled was not perfect, to be honest, at most times. And they took me on. Some of them were edges.

"Some of them, I tried bowling bouncers. But I ended up giving runs. But definitely, every time I come out to bowl, I was looking to keep the economy rate down and build the pressure up," Prasidh said.

Apart from leaking runs at a high rate, India also lost their lower order quickly in both the innings. The last four Indian batters scored a total of nine runs in the two innings combined. Krishna was guilty of playing an irresponsible shot off Shoaib Bashir to get out in the second innings even as he had the company of Ravindra Jadeja. He said the lower order is working on their batting abilities.

"As the lower-order batsmen, we definitely are working on... If you look at our net sessions, we are putting in the work.

"I think it is about putting your mind in there as well, making sure you trust yourself, trust the skill that you have and be there at the crease for a little longer. And then the numbers and the runs are going to show, and we are working towards it," Prasidh said during a press conference.

India lost the first Test by five wickets. The second match of the five-Test series begins here at Edgbaston from July 2.
