India bounced back in style to level the three-match ODI series 1-1 against Australia with a dominant 102-run victory at Mullanpur on September 17, 2025. Batting first, India posted a competitive total of 292, thanks to a classy century from Smriti Mandhana (117 off 91), supported by Deepti Sharma (40) and crucial lower-order contributions from Arundhati Reddy (4) and Kranti Goud (3). At one stage, India looked set for a 320-plus total, but Australia’s bowlers managed to stem the flow of runs in the final overs.
Australia began their chase steadily, with Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard ticking with singles and doubles. However, India’s disciplined bowling attack ensured the scoring rate never got out of hand. Kranti Goud and Renuka Singh Thakur set the tone early, accounting for the Aussie openers and conceding just 25 runs in the powerplay.
The Indian spinners then took control, with Radha Yadav taking a stunning return catch to dismiss Perry, while Arundhati Reddy accounted for Sutherland. The middle and lower order struggled to build partnerships, losing wickets at regular intervals. Australia’s last six wickets fell for just 56 runs, highlighting India’s dominance with both ball and fielding efforts.
Collectively, India’s six-bowler strategy, led by Renuka Singh Thakur and Kranti Goud upfront and supported by the spin trio, ensured a comprehensive victory. The win not only showcased India’s depth in batting and bowling but also set up an exciting decider for the final ODI of the series. Smriti Mandhana’s century and India’s all-round performance were the standout aspects of this memorable contest.
