India's batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who caught the limelight in the Indian Premier League 2025 season with a whirlwind 35-ball century in his third appearance for Rajasthan Royals, has now set the international stage alight with his presence.

The opening batter from Bihar, helped India U-19 beat England U-19 by six-wickets in the opening game of the five-match Youth ODI series that began on Friday.

Opening the batting alongside skipper and Mumbai and CSK batter Ayush Mhatre, Suryavanshi hit a blistering 48 off 19 balls, that included five massive sixes and three fours.

Moreover, the youngster smashed this knock at the County Ground at Hove, Sussex's home ground, while wearing the iconic No 18 jersey - a number synonymous with Virat Kohli.

Mhatre played second fiddle in their 71-run opening stand, that helped them in their chase of 175-runs. The Indian colts did find themselves in a spot of bother post Mhatre's dismissal, as they lost Maulyarajsinh Chavda and Vihaan Malhotra cheaply.

However, wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu brought stability to the chase with a defiant knock of 45 (35 balls), as they chased down the target with more than half of their overs remaining.

The two sides now move on to Northampton, where their next two Youth ODI matches take place on Monday and Wednesday, respectively. Worcester will host the fourth and fifth matches on Saturday, July 5 and Monday, July 7, respectively.
