Odisha: Swastik Samal, Om T Munde, Sandeep Pattnaik, Govinda Poddar, Aasirwad Swain(w), Biplab Samantray(c), Sambit S Baral, Rajesh Mohanty, Prayash Singh, Debabrata Pradhan, Badal Biswal
Delhi: Priyansh Arya, Ayush Doseja, Nitish Rana, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Sarthak Ranjan, Tejasvi Dahiya, Harsh Tyagi, Navdeep Saini, Prince Yadav, Hrithik Shokeen, Divij Mehra
Om T Munde has played the anchor’s role to perfection with a calm 22 off 40, soaking up the early pressure and rotating the strike, while Swastik Samal has looked in a hurry from ball one, smashing 27 off just 20 with five crisp boundaries. The duo have handled Delhi’s new-ball attack smartly, mixing caution with aggression. At 55 without loss after 10 overs and a healthy run rate of 5.5, Odisha have laid a solid platform and are firmly on top early in the innings.
Just when Odisha looked set to cash in on their strong start, Hritik Shokeen turns the game on its head with back-to-back wickets in consecutive overs. First Swastik Samal (11.4), and then Om (13.3), both walk back, leaving Odisha suddenly wobbling at 61/2
After the wobble, Govinda Poddar and skipper Biplab Samantaray have stitched together a crucial 50+ partnership, steadying the innings impressively. Poddar has played the anchor role with a composed 33 off 49, while Samantaray has provided the thrust, striking 35 off 33 with a couple of boundaries and three sixes. Thanks to their calm, calculated stand, Odisha move to 142/3 after 30 overs, regaining momentum and setting up the innings nicely for the final phase.
Just when Odisha looked to build again, Hritik Shokeen strikes twice in quick succession to dent the innings. First Govinda Poddar (31.2), and then Prayash Kumar Singh (33.4), both depart, leaving Odisha slipping from 148/4 to 158/5. Delhi sense an opening once more, while Odisha now need composure in the middle to avoid another slide.
Odisha close their innings at 272/8 in 50 overs, thanks to a late surge from the lower order. After losing Sambit S Baral for 17, the tail wagged well, with Rajesh Mohanty and Debabrata Pradhan adding valuable runs at the death. Pradhan’s explosive 21 off just 9 balls gave the total a late boost, while Mohanty chipped in with a handy 17 off 12.
Delhi suffer an immediate setback as both openers depart inside the first two overs. Priyansh Arya falls early for 5, while Sarthak Ranjan follows soon after, leaving the scoreboard reading 10/2 in 2 overs. Odisha’s bowlers have struck with discipline and movement, forcing Delhi onto the back foot straight away. Rishabh Pant is now at the crease alongside Ayush Doseja
Delhi’s chase continues to unravel as they slump to 54/4 in 12.4 overs. Skipper Rishabh Pant looked positive during his 24 off 28, but his dismissal sparked another slide, with Nitish Rana falling soon after. Ayush Doseja has held one end with a patient 15 off 30, while Tejasvi joins him in the middle. Odisha’s bowlers have kept things tight and struck at regular intervals, leaving Delhi needing a steady partnership to revive the chase.
Delhi lose two more wickets in quick succession and slide to 80/6 in 18.3 overs, slipping further behind the chase. Ayush Doseja, who had battled patiently for 28 off 47, was run out after a mix-up, while Tejasvi fell soon after, edging one to the deep. With Rishabh Pant and Nitish Rana already back in the hut, the pressure is firmly on the lower order. Harsh Tyagi and Hritik Shokeen are now tasked with damage control as Odisha remain firmly on top.
Delhi lose a key wicket with Hritik Shokeen falling for a brisk 32 off 24, caught by Biplab Samantaray off Sambit S Baral. The dismissal stalls a promising recovery stand just as Shokeen looked to shift gears.
Delhi suffer yet another blow with Navdeep Saini departing for 17, caught by Aashirwad Swain off Badal, just as they tried to rebuild. That leaves the score at 155/8 in 33.3 overs, with Harsh Tyagi battling on with 31 off 52.
Delhi lose yet another wicket with Divij Mehra departing for 27 off 36, caught by Sambit S Baral off Rajesh Mohanty, leaving them 189/9 in 41.2 overs. Harsh Tyagi continues to fight it out at the other end with a gritty 40 off 66, but wickets have kept tumbling around him.
Odisha wrap things up in style, bowling Delhi out for 193 in 42.3 overs to register a 79-run victory. Harsh Tyagi fought hard with a gritty 43, but wickets kept falling at regular intervals as Odisha’s bowlers maintained control throughout. Once the lower order was exposed, the result was only a matter of time.
Thank you for joining.
