A tidy start from Mahedi Hasan, who conceded just three singles in the opening over, but Shoriful Islam leaked 13 runs from the other end to give the batting side early momentum.

Taskin Ahmed makes an instant impact, striking with his very first ball as Max O’Dowd falls to a leading edge. The Dutch opener, looking dangerous, mistimed a flick and offered a simple catch to Jaker Ali at short cover, giving Bangladesh the early breakthrough in this Dutch-Bangla clash.

The powerplay comes to an end with the Netherlands at 34/1. Max O’Dowd provided a brisk start before Taskin Ahmed struck to remove him, shifting momentum in Bangladesh’s favour. Since then, the bowlers have maintained tight lines, keeping the scoring rate in check. Vikramjit Singh and Teja Nidamanuru are at the crease, working to steady the innings and build a partnership after the early setback.

Taskin Ahmed delivers once again, removing the other opener Vikramjit Singh, who struggled for fluency on this testing surface. Looking to up the tempo after a scratchy 11-ball 4, Vikramjit went for a big heave at a length delivery outside off but mistimed it straight to long on.

Saif Hassan strikes twice in his opening over to remove Dutch skipper Scott Edwards and Nidamanuru on the last ball to send visitors on the backfoot. The Netherlands are reeling at 68/4 after half of their inning

Mustafizur Rahman strikes with a sharp short ball as Shariz mistimes a pull, sending a top edge skyward. Jaker Ali, who has been a livewire in the field, moves in from mid-wicket to pouch his third catch of the match, cementing his reputation as Bangladesh’s safe pair of hands today.

Taskin Ahmed continues to deliver with the ball, this time deceiving Klein with a clever off-cutter on a good length. Looking for a big swing, Klein was beaten by the change of pace and lost control of the shot, sending it high towards long on. Hridoy judged it well under the swirling ball and completed a safe catch, adding another wicket to Bangladesh’s tally.

Taskin Ahmed has produced some standout spells in T20Is, with his best figures of 4/16 against Ireland in Chattogram (2023) leading the list. He has also bagged four-wicket hauls against the Netherlands twice — 4/25 in Hobart (2022) and 4/28 in Sylhet (2025) — along with a 3/14 against Zimbabwe in Chattogram (2024), underlining his growing impact as Bangladesh’s strike bowler.

Batting first proved difficult on a tricky surface, as expected, with the Netherlands struggling despite some early intent from Max O’Dowd. Taskin Ahmed’s introduction changed the game, removing both openers and exploiting the pitch conditions.

Teja Nidamanuru provided some resistance with a measured 26 off 26 balls, but wickets kept tumbling, including key breakthroughs from Saif Hassan. The Netherlands were restricted to 136/8 in 20 overs, with Taskin finishing as the star with 4 wickets, making the most of a bowler-friendly track.

BOWLED! Aryan Dutt delivers a perfect arm ball, angling it from wide of the crease outside off. Emon misjudges the turn, leaving a gap on the inside edge, and the ball crashes into the top of middle and leg stump. Dutt’s subtle change in trajectory proves decisive, giving the Netherlands a much-needed breakthrough.

Tim Pringle strikes with a full toss, dismissing Tanzid Hasan in unlucky fashion. Tanzid stepped down to loft it over long on but mistimed the shot, sending it straight to Max O’Dowd near the ropes, who held on comfortably. A fortunate breakthrough for Pringle as the poorly aimed delivery did all the work.

Bangladesh are just 13 runs shy of victory, having scored 9 runs off the final over, edging closer to a comfortable win as they inch toward completing the chase.
