Tahlia McGrath's Australia defeated Laura Woolvaardt's South Africa in the two teams' final league phase match of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. The South Africans were handed with a very tough loss by 7 wickets at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

After losing the toss and batting first, South Africa failed to sustain the strong start that was given by skipper Laura Woolvaardt, who got out for 31 off 26. Her opening partner Tazmine Brits, who was unable to get going in the match, shortly departed for 6 off 19 through a lbw from Kim Garth.

What followed was a disastrous batting display from the South African batters. After getting the wicket of Sune Luus for 6, Alana King went on to remove the likes Marizanne Kapp (0), Sinalo Jafta (29), Chloe Tryon (0), Nadine de Klerk (14) and Masabata Klaas (4).

Ashleigh Gardner picked the remaining wicket of Ayabonga Khaka and South Africa were bowled out for just 97 from 24 overs. In response, the Aussies chased down the total comfortably, despite the early losses of Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry with Annabel Sutherland scoring the winning runs.

The 7-time winners finish the league phase at the summit of the points table with 13 points to their name. As they aim to clinch a record 8th World title in the on-going World Cup, Australia will have to beat India in 2nd semi-final, which is set to take place on Thursday, October 30 in Navi Mumbai.

South Africa will battle it out against 4-time champions England in the 1st semi-final, taking place on Wednesday, October 29 at Vishakhapatnam.
