Australia registered a mammoth 276-run win over South Africa to win the 3rd and final ODI of the series. However, despite the win they lost the series 1-2. Batting first, Australia fell just short of breaking their own ODI record of 434, finishing on a mammoth 431 for 2, but it was still an innings of sheer dominance.

Centuries from Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh, built on a record opening stand of 250, laid the perfect platform. Cameron Green then stole the show with a blistering 118 not out off just 55 balls, registering the second-fastest ODI century by an Australian, while Alex Carey provided a fluent unbeaten 50 from 37 deliveries. For Proteas, it were only Keshav Maharaj and Senuran Muthusamy who could picked up a wicket.

In reply, South Africa were dealth with some early blows, losing four wickets on just 50 runs. Tony de Zorzi (33) and Dewald Brevis (49) tried to take their team closer to the target but it wasn't enought. Cooper Connolly was the star bowler for the Kangaroos, picking up a five-wicket haul in just six overs.
