Very good comeback from the World No.2 Wang Zhiyi and she wins Game 1 by 21-16 after PV Sindhu made another error in the following rally.

Game 1 is done and PV Sindhu will have more work to do now in the upcoming game. The Indian Olympic medallist started off very well and was in front initially but her Chinese counterpart fought back and claimed victory by 21-16.

The 20-second break is over and game 2 is underway here. Sindhu wins the first point but Wang Zhiyi equalled in the following sequence.

Let's hope the change of sides will change PV's fortunes.

Wang Zhiyi just hit a powerful smash as she continues to trail behind in the early stages of game 2. Almost identical from the first game.

PV Sindhu is looking slightly better as she has made less errors. Hopefully that's how it remains throughout this game.

Much better from PV Sindhu in game 2 but she will have to be cautious as Wang Zhiyi can stage a comeback anytime. The World No.2 had showcased that in game 1, hoping Sindhu doesn't commit any error now.

And the lead has been blown away just like that. Just what we were talking about. PV Sindhu does make an error to lose her lead and she is now trailing 13-15.

What is PV doing? She has switched off all of a sudden and Wang Zhiyi has picked up out of nowhere. Amateurish from Sindhu but excellent from the Chinese World No.2, who is well on course to beat Sindhu in straight games.

PV Sindhu should be gutted with this loss, it was very much within her reach but the story remained the same across both games.

The 2-time Indian Olympic medallist started both games positively, taking the lead in the initial minutes only to blow it all away after the 16 and 15-point mark.

With this loss, Sindhu's Malaysia Open 2026 campaign comes to an end. In fact, there are no Indians left in the tournament anymore.
