In a significant crackdown against insurgent activities, Manipur Police and security forces apprehended six militants, including three women, from various districts of the conflict-hit state. The arrests, carried out over the past two days, include active members of banned outfits and follow a series of intelligence-led operations.

According to PTI, two militants were arrested on Saturday, June 28, from Bishnupur and Tengnoupal districts. An active cadre of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) was nabbed from his residence in Oinam Ushakhangdabi, Bishnupur. Simultaneously, personnel arrested a militant associated with the Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) near the India-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district.

According to the Hindu, In a separate operation on Friday, June 27, four more individuals, including three women, were detained for alleged links with insurgent networks. These arrests were accompanied by the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition near Ngariyan Hill in Imphal East district.

"The recovered weapons include a rifle, multiple guns, several live cartridges, and a hand grenade," a senior police officer confirmed.

Security forces believe these operations are a critical step in curbing the movement and influence of banned groups operating across Manipur’s porous international border and forested terrain.

Reports of the Hindu tell that an “old unexploded bomb” was discovered and successfully neutralised by the Bomb Disposal Squad in Tengnoupal after locals reported its presence. Authorities have lauded community cooperation and urged citizens to continue reporting suspicious activities.
