Mazar In Haryana's Nuh damaged Ahead Of 'Jalabhishek' Yatra

A mazar was damaged ahead of the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra in Nuh’s Tauru town, police said on Monday. Security has been heightened across the district to prevent a recurrence of the communal clashes that erupted during the procession two years ago. Miscreants vandalised a mazar around 1:30 AM on the night between Sunday and Monday. This mazar is located in the Tawdu town of Nuh.

The culprits behind the Sunday night vandalism remain unidentified, officials said. Following the incident, a heavy police presence has been deployed at the mazar in Tauru’s Sainipura Mohalla.

Nuh Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said that necessary action was being taken by the administration in connection with the damage to the Mazar in Tauru. He further added that it will be ensured that the Jalabhishek Yatra be organised in a peaceful and harmonious environment in the district.

He said that all officials had been directed to ensure necessary arrangements in their respective areas. Duty magistrates and police personnel had been deployed across key locations. Devotees were visiting temples to offer prayers, and the yatra will commence from the Nalheshwar temple in Nuh, located about 50 km from Gurugram.

"There is an atmosphere of peace in all areas. The general public is appealed to trust only official information," Deputy Commissioner said.

On July 31, 2023, six people, including two home guards and a cleric of a Gurugram mosque, were killed in clashes that erupted when a mob attacked a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession in Nuh.

To ensure that all goes well this year, around 2,500 police personnel have been deployed. All government and private schools in the district are closed and internet services suspended.

The carrying of all weapons, including licensed arms, firearms, swords, sticks, tridents, rods, knives, and chains, has been banned during the yatra. The only exemption is the sheathed kirpan, worn as a religious symbol by members of the Sikh community. The use of DJs, loudspeakers, or any sound-amplifying devices featuring content that is religiously provocative or likely to hurt the sentiments of any community is also strictly prohibited, the order stated.

In preparation for the Brajmandal Yatra, extensive security measures have been implemented across the region:

Internet and bulk SMS services have been suspended from 9 PM on Sunday (July 13) to 9 PM on Monday (July 14). However, essential SMS services for banking and mobile recharges will remain functional.

All government and private schools (Classes 1–12) in Nuh district have been ordered shut. Markets, meat shops, and factories along the yatra route are also closed.

Entry of heavy vehicles has been prohibited, and traffic is being rerouted. The district is under drone surveillance, with approximately 2,500 police personnel deployed to ensure law and order.

The district administration has also banned the sale of meat along the yatra route starting Sunday. Meat shops along the Kanwar route are to remain closed till July 24.
