Maharashtra: Explosives, Other Articles Recovered In Naxal-Hit Gadchiroli District

The explosives were disposed of, said the release and added the police were in the process of registering an offence in connection with the seizure.

Explosives and other articles suspected to be hidden by Naxalites were recovered from near a village in  Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, police said on Thursday.

A special squad conducting an anti-Naxalite operation in Nelgunda village under Bhamragadh taluka found claymore mines, two cooker bombs, steel pipes and three bundles of electric wires, among other articles, at two separate roads, on Wednesday, said a press release issued by Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Neelotpal's office.

Subsequently, the explosives were disposed of, said the release and added the police were in the process of registering an offence in connection with the seizure. The police have intensified anti-Naxalite operation in the district located in eastern Maharashtra, it added.
