Kashmiri Pandit Employees Seek More Security After Fresh Threats: What We Know

A fresh threat poster allegedly targeting Kashmiri Pandit employees working in the Kashmir Valley has surfaced on social media, prompting the All PM Package Employees Forum Kashmir to seek stronger security measures from the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

In a letter addressed to the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary on Monday, the forum said the purported poster, dated August 23, was allegedly issued by an outfit identifying itself as the United Liberation Council (ULC).

According to the forum, the poster reportedly contains sensitive personal information about some employees, including their names, addresses and vehicle numbers.

Forum Flags Circulation Of Sensitive Details

The forum stressed that the authenticity of the alleged threat poster has not yet been established by police or security agencies. It nevertheless expressed concern over the repeated circulation of such material, particularly when personal details of employees are included.

“The authenticity of the poster is yet to be verified by the Police and security agencies. However, the repeated circulation of such threat letters and posters, particularly those containing sensitive personal information, is a matter of grave concern,” the forum said in its letter.

It added that the matter had reportedly been brought to the attention of the concerned police and security agencies for verification and further action.

‘We Will Neither Be Scared Nor Run Away’

A Kashmiri Pandit employee, responding to the latest alleged threat, said such warnings would not force community members to leave the Valley.

“We will neither be scared nor run away this time. Kashmir is ours also. It is our birthplace…A threat letter was issued in the first week of August as well. Today (Sunday), again, a threat letter has been uploaded that mentions addresses, vehicle numbers, and even phone numbers.

I request the Administration and Security agencies to find out the origin of these threat letters and who is providing them with all the information,” the employee told ANI.

The employee’s remarks came amid concerns over how personal information concerning those working under the Prime Minister’s Package may have been obtained and circulated.

Forum Recalls Previous Targeted Attacks

The employees’ body also referred to earlier targeted attacks involving Kashmiri Pandit employees in the Valley and said the emergence of repeated threats had heightened anxiety among workers and their families.

“We have already witnessed the tragic loss of Kashmiri Pandit employees in targeted attacks.

The repeated emergence of new threats every week has created a deep sense of fear and insecurity among employees and their families,” the forum said.

The forum said the latest development should be examined seriously in view of the security concerns that have persisted around Kashmiri Pandit employees posted across the Valley.

Employees Seek Security Review And Protection

In its communication to the administration, the forum sought enhanced security cover for Kashmiri Pandit employees serving under the Prime Minister’s Package.

It also called for a thorough investigation into the alleged poster and asked authorities to identify those behind its circulation if it is found to be genuine or part of a deliberate attempt to intimidate employees.

The forum further sought a review of security arrangements at workplaces, residential accommodations and along transit routes used by employees.

It specifically requested immediate protection and security guidance for individuals whose names, addresses, vehicle numbers or other personal details may have appeared in the alleged poster.

The organisation also urged the administration to take preventive steps based on the latest intelligence inputs and security assessments, while moving quickly to reassure employees and their families.

The forum has asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to formally establish the authenticity and origin of the latest alleged threat while strengthening protection for Kashmiri Pandit employees working in the Valley.
