Don't Be Surprised If We Come To Power In Delhi: Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut

'I had been saying it from the very beginning that Maharashtra will have Shiv Sanik CM', said Sanjay Raut.

The victory in a protracted political battle in Maharashtra has boosted the morale of the Shiv Sena that is set to form the government on Thursday, with the help of the Congress and the NCP.

A jubilant Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said that people should not be surprised if Shiv Sena comes to power in Delhi too.

"People shouldn't be surprised if 'Suryayaan' Sena lands up in Delhi," Raut said.

The Sena leader said he had been asserting from the very beginning that Maharashtra will have a Shiv Sanik Chief Minister. "But everyone was laughing at us," he added.

The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine elected Uddhav Thackeray as its nominee for the Chief Minister's post, following which their leaders met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and staked claim to form the government of the "Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi".

The leaders submitted a letter claiming support of 166 MLAs to the governor. The Governor, in a letter addressed to Uddhav Thackeray, asked him to submit a "list" of "majority support in the Assembly" by December 3.

The three parties held a joint meeting at a suburban hotel where Thackeray was picked as leader of the alliance.

Thackeray, who would be the first member of his family to occupy the top political post in the state, said his government will not be vindictive.
