CJP Threatens Statewide Stir In Rajasthan, Demands Madan Dilawar’s Resignation

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday gave the Rajasthan government 48 hours to arrest those it alleges attacked its volunteers during a school inspection in Jaipur district, warning of a statewide agitation and demanding Education Minister Madan Dilawar’s resignation if no action is taken.

The confrontation took place at Rampura Kanwarpura village, where a CJP team had gone to inspect a government primary school as part of its ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign.

CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka alleged that people linked to the BJP assaulted members of the delegation and accused the police of failing to intervene.

“We had gone to inspect the school in Rampura-Kanwarpura village. For the past several years, the school has been operating in a buffalo shed. We had gone for an inspection last year as well, and the school was being run in a buffalo shed even then,” Ranka said.

CJP Alleges Pre-Planned Attack

Ranka claimed the team was stopped and attacked before it could reach the school.

“Vehicle windows were smashed, phones were broken, a woman was assaulted, my shirt was torn, and one of our team members suffered a fractured hand. They even attacked us with stones,” he alleged.

He then issued an ultimatum to Dilawar.

“I want to tell Madan Dilawar just one thing: You have 48 hours. These goons must be arrested. You must withdraw the order, otherwise we will launch a statewide agitation across Rajasthan. And this time, it will not just be about the schools. This time, we will demand Madan Dilawar's resignation,” Ranka said.

Calling the incident “a black day in Rajasthan's democratic history”, he also alleged that police personnel remained passive despite being informed about the violence.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke made a similar allegation on X, accusing Rajasthan Police of allowing the attack to take place. He also shared a video showing a vehicle with a broken window.

School Conditions At Centre Of Dispute

The CJP delegation had visited the village as part of its campaign to inspect government schools, assess infrastructure and speak with teachers and students.

The primary school at Rampura Kanwarpura has reportedly been declared unsafe, with classes currently being conducted in a cattle enclosure near the existing building.

CJP members said the school had been functioning from the makeshift arrangement for around a year and that their visit was intended to assess the situation and press for repairs.

Villagers Dispute CJP’s Version

Local residents, however, gave a different account of the confrontation and denied assaulting the CJP team.

Jugal Kishore Sharma, a resident of the village, claimed that around 200-250 people had accompanied the delegation and alleged that the group had tried to dismantle the school structure.

“We did not do anything. They had brought 200-250 people with them. We did not hit them. We spoke to them calmly, but they broke their own car,” Sharma said.

He also claimed that ₹12 lakh had already been sanctioned through the local MLA for repair work.

Another resident, Anu Sharma, said villagers objected to the CJP team’s attempt to inspect or dismantle the building because 20-25 students study there. She described the confrontation as a “heated exchange”.

Row Over Restrictions On School Inspections

The incident comes amid a wider dispute over Rajasthan education department restrictions on the entry of outsiders and mediapersons into government schools without a specific reason.

CJP had earlier criticised the order, alleging that it was intended to limit scrutiny of conditions in government schools. Ranka had said the organisation would continue its inspections despite the restrictions.

The alleged attack also drew political reactions.

Rajasthan Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully condemned the incident and accused the government of trying to hide the condition of state-run schools. Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra also condemned the alleged violence and claimed BJP workers were responsible.

Police, however, have not confirmed the allegations. Bagru DSP Dharmendra Sharma said he was unaware of the reported confrontation.
