16 People Killed In Waziristan Attack: India Denies Pakistan Allegations

India issued a sharp rebuke to Pakistan late Saturday after Islamabad blamed New Delhi for the deadly suicide bombing that killed at least 13 soldiers in the Waziristan region of northwestern Pakistan.

India has slammed Pakistan for attempting to blame it for a suicide bombing attack in the Waziristan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

This accusation comes from the recent attack in Pakistan. At least 13 soldiers were killed and about 20 others injured on Saturday when a suicide bomber in an explosive-laden vehicle crashed into a military convoy in northwest Pakistan, according to a local government.

Despite the attack being later claimed by the suicide wing of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Pakistan continues to pin the attack on India.

Dismissing these allegations, India’s Ministry of External Affairs released a statement, “ We have seen an official statement by the Pakistan Army seeking to blame India for the attack in Waziristan on June 28. We reject this statement with the contempt it deserves.”

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, calling it a “cowardly act,” according to a statement from his office. Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Army’s chief, warned that any effort to destabilise Pakistan would be met with “swift and decisive retribution.”
