US Strikes On Iran: How Did World Leaders React?

The United States entered the conflict between Iran and Israel on Sunday after it struck three of Iran’s key nuclear facilities - Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz. The attack drew both support and condemnation from nations around the world. US President Donald Trump described the damage as “monumental” after hitting the nuclear facilities. 

How did the world react?

United Kingdom

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer urged all sides to negotiate to ensure a diplomatic end to the crisis. He stated that stability was a priority in the volatile region. 

“The situation in the Middle East remains volatile and stability in the region is a priority. We call on Iran to return to the negotiating table and reach a diplomatic solution to end this crisis,” Starmer said. 

He also asserted that “Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon and the U.S. has taken action to alleviate that threat.”

China 

China condemned the US strikes asserting that it might be repeating the same mistake it did in Iraq, according to state media. The Chinese Foreign Ministry released a statement asking all parties to implement a ceasefire. 

“China is willing to work with the international community to pool efforts together and uphold justice, and contribute to the work for restoring peace and stability in the Middle East,” the ministry added. 

Saudi Arabia 

Saudi Arabia expressed “deep concern” over the US air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities and called it a “violation” of the sovereignty of Iran. 

“The Kingdom also calls upon the international community to intensify its efforts during this highly sensitive period to reach a political resolution that would bring an end to the crisis and open a new chapter for achieving security and stability in the region,” it added further.

Russia 

Russia’s Foreign Ministry asserted that it “strongly condemned” the airstrikes and called them “a gross violation of international law, the U.N. Charter, and U.N. Security Council resolutions.” 

It also called for an end to the aggression and “for increased efforts to create conditions for returning the situation to a political and diplomatic track."

Dmitry Medvedev, who serves as deputy head of President Vladimir Putin’s Security Council, said several countries were prepared to supply Tehran with nuclear weapons, reported AP.

Pakistan

Pakistan released a statement condemning the attack stating that it “violates all norms of international law and Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself.”

Pakistan had earlier nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize 2026. It cited the violation of international humanitarian law claiming to “emphasise the imperative need to respect civilian lives and properties and immediately bring the conflict to end. All parties must adhere to international law, particularly international humanitarian law.”

Ukraine 

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry released a statement in support of the US attack on Iran. “The peaceful efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons have been ongoing for years, but they have not yielded effective results,’ the statement said. 

“We are convinced that the measures taken by the United States and Israel against Iranian nuclear facilities have sent a clear message to the Iranian regime — a message that the continuation of policies aimed at destabilizing regional security is unacceptable,” it added.
