United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that Israel had agreed to the “necessary conditions” to finalise a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza. Trump released a statement on his Truth Social platform stating that "Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War.”

"The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE," he added.

Donald Trump is set to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyhau next week where he has claimed to be “very firm”. The US President earlier claimed that he expects a ceasefire to be in place within a week. "We think within the next week, we’re going to get a ceasefire, and we’re supplying, as you know, a lot of money and a lot of food to that area,” he said.

The statement was released while Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer was in Washington on Tuesday for talks with senior administration officials. He was due to meet US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance in Washington.

Israel had earlier ordered the evacuation of residents from parts of northern Gaza. Following the order, Trump released a statement asserting that, "Make the deal in Gaza, get the hostages back.”

The Israeli military has also claimed to examine reports of civilians being attacked while approaching aid distribution centres. More than 170 charities and other NGOs have called for the US- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) to be disbanded.
