  • India said any further response would depend on developments in the diplomatic row

The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday described India's response to the removal of temporary and unauthorised structures outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi as a "proportionate response", amid reports of reciprocal action by Islamabad, according to the MEA's latest briefing.

Asked about reports that Pakistan had taken action in Islamabad after India removed the structures, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the ministry had already explained the context in which the removals took place.

"I just gave you an update as to what happened, what was the context in which certain removals happened," Jaiswal said. He added that India had already informed journalists about the discussions at the WMCC meeting and would provide further information if there were new developments.

Tit-For-Tat Action

The response came after Indian authorities removed temporary structures and queue-management installations outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.

The move followed action by Pakistan against Indian diplomatic premises in Islamabad, prompting what officials described as reciprocal measures.

The MEA did not provide fresh details on any corresponding Pakistani measures at Friday's briefing, instead referring to its previous explanation of the matter.
