Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill was passed by the US Congress this Thursday. The $4.5 trillion tax cuts bill narrowly passed with a 218-214 vote turnout. Trump is to sign the passed bill on Friday evening.
Trump called the passage of ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ a historic achievement, telling the press, “The biggest bill of its kind ever signed — and it's going to make this country into a rocket ship. It's going to be really great.”
Writing on Truth Social, “Together, we will celebrate our Nation’s Independence, and the beginning of our new Golden Age. The people of the United States of America will be Richer, Safer, and Prouder than ever before,” said Trump.
He hailed the passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” as a historic event in his Iowa rally, stating, “There can be no better birthday present for America than the phenomenal victory just hours ago when Congress passed the One Beautiful Bill to make America great again.”
While the Republicans led House of Representatives did pass the bill, two Republicans sided with the 212 Democrats who voted against the bill. Not a single democrat voted for the bill.
At the Iowa State kick-off of the 250th Independence celebration, Trump remarked in the rally, “Not one Democrat voted for us. All of the things we’ve given, and they won't vote, because they all hate Trump.”
He added, “I cannot stand them, because I really believe they hate our country.”
President Donald Trump said getting the final holdouts on his agenda bill to vote “yes” was “very easy” and “not hard” before taking off to Iowa this evening.
“I think when you go over the bill, it was very easy to get ‘em to a yes, you know. We went over that bill and point after point, biggest tax cut in history, great for security, great on the southern border,” Trump said. “We covered just about everything. Again, it’s the biggest bill ever signed of its kind.
According to CNN reports, Trump denied having made any deals to get holdout votes, saying, “What I did is we talked about how good the bill is. I mean, that’s a deal, I guess when you think about it,” Trump said. “But obviously, convinced them, but it was not hard. This is a great bill.”
When asked about the two Republicans who voted ‘no’, Trump said he was disappointed in them for doing so. The two Republicans are Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania.
Trump also said that he believes he has “more power” now in his second term than he did in his first term, according to CNN reports.
