Nitya Bellani: Designing A Kinder Future Through Creativity

In the global design community, Nitya Bellani’s name has become synonymous with originality, vision, and purpose. The Indian designer, acclaimed for her boundary-pushing approach to graphic design, continues to elevate the role of creativity in shaping empathy and human connection. This month, Bellani’s work takes center stage once again as part of the 2025 Fight for Kindness exhibitions—opening in Barcelona, Spain, and Brno, Czech Republic—events that celebrate design as a language of compassion leading up to World Kindness Day on November 13. Her participation in these international showcases reinforces her status as one of India’s most socially conscious creative voices.

Over the years, Bellani has amassed an impressive portfolio of international honors. She has twice been a Red Dot Design Award winner, recognized for projects that merge philosophical thought with minimalist precision; a multiple International Design Awards (IDA) laureate for her projects Futura and Text as Art; and a winner at the AIGA Atlanta Pin-Up Show, where her work was showcased at the Museum of Design Atlanta. Her art has been featured in global initiatives such as Artists for Climate, a collaboration between Fine Acts and TED Countdown, and her illustrations have appeared on the labels of Canada’s celebrated Collective Arts Brewery, blending fine art with commercial innovation.

Bellani’s inclusion in this year’s Fight for Kindness exhibitions is particularly significant. The initiative—founded by Italian designer Debora Manetti and organized by Zetafonts under its TypeCampus program—brings together established and emerging creatives worldwide to use typography as a force for good. The 2025 edition, hosted physically and digitally in cities including Barcelona (at LCI Barcelona, October 7–17) and Brno (at Boldhalle, October 10–November 13), invites designers to reflect on kindness as a transformative social value. Bellani’s poster for the campaign continues her exploration of empathy, communication, and visual storytelling through typographic art.

Discussing the importance of these exhibitions, Bellani expressed pride in representing India’s rich design heritage abroad while emphasizing how visual communication can inspire compassion. “Kindness is both universal and powerful,” she reflected. “Design allows us to translate empathy into tangible experiences that can cross borders and open conversations.”

The Fight for Kindness initiative, organized in partnership with major design entities such as ADCE, Typeroom, Type Directors Club, Slanted, Posterheroes, and OFFF Festival, highlights the strongest typographic messages of the year through curated exhibitions, publications, and global online showcases. Since its inception in 2022, it has grown into one of the most meaningful gatherings of creative voices advocating for positive change through visual storytelling.
