IICT Announces Cutting-Edge Courses In AVGC-XR For First Batch Starting This August

India’s digital and creative economy is expected to grow further as the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) opens admissions for its first batch of students this August, offering a range of industry-focused courses in the AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality) sector.

The institute announced by Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw at the Waves Summit in May, is backed by prestigious global partnerships and industry leaders.

The inaugural academic offering includes 6 Specialised Courses in Gaming, 4 Courses in Post Production, 8 Courses in Animation, Comics & XR.

These programs are designed in collaboration with top industry players to ensure students are equipped with the skills required to thrive in the ever-evolving creative technology landscape.

Just two weeks ago, IICT signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of York, UK, paving the way for collaborative research, faculty exchange, and global certification pathways.

Adding to its foundation, companies such as Google & YouTube, Adobe, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and JioStar have announced long-term collaborations with IICT. Their support covers curriculum development, scholarships, internships, startup incubation, and placement opportunities.

The governing members informed, “Our vision is to make India a global powerhouse in the AVGC-XR sector by nurturing world-class talent. These courses are designed to meet global standards while being rooted in India’s dynamic creative potential.”

The admissions are open now and more detailed curriculum will be announced this month.

IICT’s esteemed governing board includes Sanjay Jaju, Vikas Kharge, Swati Mhase, Chandrajit Banerjee, Ashish Kulkarni, Manvendra Shukul, and Rajan Navani.

The governing council members include Munjal Shroff, Chaitanya Chichlikar, Biren Ghosh, Bhupendra Kainthola and Gaurav Banerjee.

With the global AVGC-XR industry projected to grow exponentially, IICT’s comprehensive course offerings aim to develop a skilled talent pool for India and beyond.

Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the establishment of the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in May.

The newly established Institute will serve as a centre for skill development with a focus on the AVGC-XR sector.

The institute will feature high-quality facilities, including immersive studios, animation and gaming labs, virtual production setups, editing and sound suites, and smart classrooms to support practical learning and innovation.

The permanent IICT campus will be built across ten acres at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari (Film City), Goregaon, Mumbai.

Initial operations will begin at a temporary facility at NFDC, Pedder Road premise in Mumbai.
