Himanshu Goel Explores Dark Territory In ‘Chapter 9 1835’; Premvada Kant, Charul Malik & Mishty Elani Join Cast

Actor Himanshu Goel is stepping into a more layered dramatic space with Sachin Gupta’s upcoming period thriller Chapter 9 1835. Produced by Chilsag Studios, the film places Goel at the centre of an emotionally demanding narrative set against the backdrop of 19th-century colonial India. The period setting is expected to bring its own set of challenges for the actors, particularly as the story moves beyond a straightforward historical narrative to explore the emotional and psychological dimensions of its characters.

Rather than presenting a conventional hero-driven story, the project explores complex relationships, internal conflicts and hidden motives within its historical setting. Goel’s character is expected to require significant emotional shifts, making the role a departure from the more familiar leading-man space. The film’s approach gives greater importance to character development and the motivations that shape the individuals within its narrative, creating a performance space that demands restraint as well as intensity.

Goel will be joined by Premvada Kant, Charul Malik and Mishty Elani in pivotal roles. While specific plot details are being kept under wraps, the film is being developed as a mystery-driven period drama with psychological and emotional layers. His experience across theatre and screen has given him opportunities to explore different approaches to performance, and Chapter 9 1835 brings those experiences into a more demanding period-drama setting.

Tapping Into a Different Performance Space

Discussing the challenge of the role, Goel said:

“Chapter 9 1835 forces me to tap into a very different, complex side of my performance space. The script is intense, layered, and requires complete emotional commitment under Sachin Gupta’s direction. Theatre taught me the honesty required for raw performance, but this character stretches those boundaries even further on camera.” 

Director Sachin Gupta, a Natya Bhushan Award recipient and founder of Chilsag Entertainment Network, has a background spanning theatre, writing and filmmaking. His directorial credits include Paranthe Wali Gali and Thoda Lutf Thoda Ishq. His theatre background also informs the film’s emphasis on character-driven storytelling and performance.

Goel’s previous lead performance in the 2025 feature Sundarnagar Ki Sundari established another chapter in his screen journey. With Chapter 9 1835, the actor now takes on a role that places greater emphasis on psychological depth and dramatic transformation. The project therefore marks another opportunity for him to move into a different dramatic register and explore a character that demands greater emotional complexity.

As production prepares to commence, the film’s period setting and mystery-driven narrative add another dimension to Goel’s evolving body of work.
