Building on the success of the pilot launched in Delhi in July, 2025, the Department of Posts (DoP), in collaboration with the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW), has launched a dedicated service to ensure the pickup, booking, transmission, and doorstep delivery of medicines that are unavailable at ECHS polyclinics under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) in the country.
India Post Launches Nationwide Medicine Delivery Service For ECHS Beneficiaries
After a successful Delhi pilot, DoP and DESW launched a nationwide medicine delivery service via India Post for ECHS beneficiaries, ensuring doorstep delivery through CSCs from October 17, 2025.
According to an official statement issued on Friday, under this initiative, medicines will be procured and packaged by Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) operating through Common Service Centres (CSCs) located within ECHS polyclinics. The logistics and final delivery will be handled by India Post’s extensive and trusted delivery network, ensuring that medicines reach beneficiaries efficiently and reliably.
The service was first piloted in Delhi on July 31, receiving a highly encouraging response. Following the pilot’s success, it was extended to cover parts of the NCR region, including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
“Building on the success of the pilot launched in Delhi in July, 2025, wherein more than 1,700 packets of medicines were delivered, a comprehensive mapping of 458 ECHS locations across the country has been completed. The service will now be available nationwide from October 17,” the statement said.
The Department of Posts emphasized that the service aims to ensure timely, reliable, and hassle-free medicine delivery to thousands of ECHS beneficiaries, many of whom live in remote or underserved regions.
