Under CEO and co-founder Sanjay Mehrotra, SanDisk, a global leader in flash memory storage solutions and a Fortune 500 and S&P 500 company, has been boosting earnings by selling more chips to makers of mobile devices and focusing on faster solid-state drives. Youngest of the trio of co-founders, Mehrotra is the named inventor in over 70 patents. An alumnus of BITS, Pilani (who did not complete his graduate programme), Mehrotra has a BS and MS in electrical engineering and computer sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. His recognitions include the 2013 Outstanding Alumni Award in electrical engineering from the University of California. He was also a joint recipient of the 2006 IEEE Reynold B. Johnson Information Storage Device Technology Award. Mehrotra has served as a director of Cavium Inc, a fabless semiconductor company based in San Jose, California, since July 2009, and currently also serves on the Global Semiconductor Alliance, the Semiconductor Industry Association, the Engineering Advisory Board at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council.
