Veteran Actress Tanuja, Kajol's Mother Discharged From Hospital

Kajol's mother veteran actress Tanuja was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday evening.

Veteran actress Tanuja has been discharged from the hospital after she was admitted due to age-related complications. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday evening. A source told PTI, "She was discharged from the hospital late last night as all her health parameters were normal''.

She was under observation. Earlier, a report in the same agency stated, ''She is under observation and is doing well. There’s nothing to worry about''.

Daughter of filmmaker Kumarsen Samarth and actress Shobhna Samarth, Tanuja worked in both Hindi and Bengali films. She was a popular actor in the 1960s and 1970s. The 80-year-old worked in films like 'Jewel Thief', 'Haathi Mere Saathi', 'Mere Jeevan Sathi', 'Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi', 'Jeene Ki Raah', 'Teen Bhubaner Pare', 'Deya Neya’, ‘Anthony-Firingee' and Prothom Kadam Phool' among others. 

She started her acting career as a child artiste in the 1950 film 'Hamari Beti' which was directed by her mom Shobhna Samarth. The actress was also part of several TV shows like 'Aarambh' and 'Junoon'. She was last seen in 'Modern Love: Mumbai' in 2022. 

Tanuja tied the knot with filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee and has two daughters-Kajol and Tanisha.
