Sonakshi Sinha On Box Office Clash Between Nikita Roy And Kajol’s Maa: It's Healthy Competition

Two women led films - Sonakshi Sinha's Nikita Roy and Kajol starrer Maa, are locking horns at the box office this Friday, June 27. Ahead of its release, Sonakshi shared her opinion on the mega clash. Here's what she said.

In an interview with PTI, Sonakshi Sinha said, "It’s so cool that we’ve two films led by women that are releasing side by side. That's like a step in the right direction, and, amazingly, it's happening. And there's room for everyone. Both are different films, and we wish them well."

She called it a "healthy competition".

Sonakshi also said that she has seen the trailer of Maa and enjoyed it. She also called Kajol a "phenomenal actress" who she has looked up to and admires. The Heeramandi actress is also looking forward to watch the mythological horror film.

Sonakshi further said that she has been clear with the choices she has made for the last 8-9 years, that she always wanted to play strong female characters. "It's something that gives me joy to be able to shoulder a film and play a title role, like Nikita Roy, Noor, and Akira. It's very empowering. It’s a big thing to be able to do that. I want to be the hero of my films," she added.

About Nikita Roy

Nikita Roy is a psychological thriller, written by Pavan Kirpalani. It marks Sonakshi's brother Kussh Sinha's directorial debut. The film has been produced by Nicky Bhagnani, Vicky Bhagnani, Kinjal Ghone, Dinesh Gupta, and Ankur Takrani.

Apart from Sonakshi, the film also stars Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal and Suhail Nayyar in significant roles.
