Siddharth Roy Kapur On Misconceptions About Bollywood: The Fact That Film Industry Is All About Glamour And People Here Tend To Have It Really Easy

Siddharth Roy Kapur speaks up about the common misconceptions that audiences have about the film industry and the people working in it. He also reveals how cinema is very deep-rooted and integral to Indian culture.

Siddharth Roy Kapur has been one of the most prolific filmmakers in the recent past. He has not only given some of the biggest blockbusters to the film industry, he has also managed to give us some of the biggest talents in acting as well. He has never shied away from calling a spade a spade and always carried strong opinions when it came to the film industry.

During a recent interaction during the promotion of his latest project, ‘Rocket Boys 2’, when asked about the common misconceptions that people have about the film industry, Siddharth Roy Kapur didn’t shy away from commenting on the same. “Well, it's not a very unique one, I have to say, but it's true. The fact that the film industry is all about glamour and people here tend to have it really easy,” begins Kapur.

He adds, “I just want to refute that by saying that everyone here works very hard to prove their mettle. When you look at how hard actors, directors, producers, and writers work… there's a lot of blood, sweat and tears behind the scenes that go into making something for an audience.”

Kapur has also been very instrumental in bringing out stories that are not just entertaining but also, at times, rooted to India’s history and culture. “Indian cinema has always been an integral part of our culture. It's inextricably linked to the culture of India. It’s a great medium to reach the masses and in a way reflects our society, pushes boundaries and also makes space for new ideologies,” he says.

“I’m grateful for multiple cinematic cultures in multiple languages across the country that contribute to the Indian experience. I'd say anything to do with popular culture in India just can't disregard cinema because it's so intrinsically a part of who we are,” concludes Kapur.
