Ben Affleck And Matt Damon To Be Honoured With Robin Williams Legacy Of Laughter Award

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon will be awarded the Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter Award, honouring their bond with the late Robin Williams. Williams' children - Zak, Zelda, and Cody Williams will present the award at a San Francisco event.

The Oscar-winning actors, who co-wrote and starred in the 1997 film Good Will Hunting, will be honoured with the Robin Williams Legacy of Laughter Award this April. Williams received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Gus Van Sant’s film and earned Affleck and Damon an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

The tribute is to recognise their work that highlights “their impact and the power of storytelling and connection to spark real change.”

The award will be presented by actor Glenn Close‘s nonprofit, Bring Change to Mind, at its Revels & Revelations Celebration. The event is scheduled on April 27, 2026, at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco.

What Affleck and Damon said about the honour

In a joint statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter, Affleck and Damon said, “Robin wasn’t just someone we admired. He made our dreams come true. We owe everything to him. He said yes to our movie and we got it made.”

“Receiving the Legacy of Laughter Award, created in honour of Robin Williams, is incredibly meaningful to us. His legacy isn’t just about his talent and how much he made the world laugh — it’s about how deeply he cared. This honour carries his spirit, and that means everything to us,” they added.

Robin Williams died by suicide on August 11, 2014, at age 63.
