Mohit Suri-directed Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda is a massive hit. The film follows the love story of a rockstar (Panday) and a song writer (Padda) who has early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Amidst Saiyaara's box office success, there have been reports claiming that director Anurag Basu has been reworking on the script of Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela's yet-untitled film to avoid similarities with Ahaan-Aneet starrer. In an interview, Basu has dismissed the rumours that he is rewriting the film.

Earlier, Mohit had revealed that Saiyaara story was originally meant to be Aashiqui 3. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Suri revealed of pitching the story to Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt, but as they were in a hurry to announce it, he wasn't comfortable as the script wasn't ready. Eventually, he stepped down from the project.
Interestingly, Anurag Basu stepped in to direct a film, which is reportedly titled Aashiqui 3. It stars Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela in the lead roles, and the former is said to be playing a rockstar in it.
Dismissing the claims of script changes, Basu told Mid-Day that he and Mohit are very close, and he is happy for Saiyaara's success. He also clarified that the only similarity between their films is that the male lead is a rockstar, otherwise "both the stories are very different."
He further said, "In my film, the girl doesn’t have dementia or any other condition. I was aware of the Alzheimer’s angle in Saiyaara, so there’s no reason to repeat it in my story."
The Metro in Dino director also said that about 40% of its shoot has been completed. In August and September, they are planning another schedule where Kartik will have a clean-shaven look.
"Right now, he’s filming Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which requires a different look. Continuity is the only challenge. Once he wraps that, we’ll lock the next phase," he added.
The romantic drama marks Kartik and Sreeleela's first film together. Basu confirmed that it has been pushed to 2026.
