Bong Joon Ho’s Ally has officially revealed its impressive voice cast, adding major Hollywood names to the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s first animated feature. The upcoming fantasy adventure will feature voices from Bradley Cooper, Ayo Edebiri, Dave Bautista, Finn Wolfhard, Werner Herzog and several others, marking another ambitious global project from the Parasite director.

The animated film has reportedly been in development since 2019 and is being backed by Neon for North American distribution. The studio had previously collaborated with Bong Joon Ho on Parasite, the groundbreaking South Korean film that made history at the Academy Awards.

Bong Joon Ho’s Ally Explores A Fantasy Ocean Adventure

The story of Ally follows a curious piglet squid living deep in the South Pacific Ocean. Dreaming of seeing sunlight and becoming part of a wildlife documentary, Ally’s peaceful underwater world reportedly changes after a mysterious aircraft crashes into the sea.

The incident pushes Ally into a dangerous journey alongside an unlikely group of companions. The film is expected to blend emotional storytelling with fantasy adventure elements, something Bong Joon Ho has become widely known for across films like Snowpiercer, Okja, and Parasite.

Apart from Bradley Cooper and Ayo Edebiri, the film’s voice cast also includes Rachel House, Alex Jayne Go and Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has additionally joined the project, further boosting anticipation among younger audiences.

The screenplay has been co-written by Bong Joon Ho and Jason Yu, while Seo Woo-sik serves as producer. International distribution rights have already been secured across multiple territories, including France, South Korea, and parts of Southeast Asia.

The film is expected to be completed during the first half of 2027, with a theatrical release planned later that year.
