Akshay Kumar Reacts To ‘OMG 2’ Releasing With 27 Cuts: Did You Feel It Is An Adult Film?

‘OMG 2’, starring Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi in the lead, was released in the theatres with 27 cuts.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ hit the silver screens on August 11 but only after 27 cuts from the Censor Board of Film Certification. Almost two months after the film’s release, Akshay Kumar has now finally reacted to the cuts by CBFC, and mentioned how he does not have any idea about the rules and therefore he did not intend to fight in the matter.

“I don’t want to fight. I have no idea about the rules. I didn’t get into the rulebook. If they thought it was an adult film, then… did you all feel it is an adult film? Whoever we have shown the film to, they loved it. I made it for youngsters and I’m happy it is coming on Netflix and I’m happy about it. That’s it. The important thing is that people should know about it,” Akshay stated during a group interview as quoted by India Today.

The ‘Mission Raniganj’ actor even recalled how he was discouraged during his 2017 movie ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. The actor said,  “When I made ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, everybody told me what kind of title this is. I was asked, ‘Are you mad? Do you want to make a film on shauchalaya? Who makes a film on a subject like toilets?’ I would like to tell you one thing, please don’t discourage me by thinking about what business it (my film) is going to do. Give me courage, at least this kind of film is being made and we are showing it to our children. It is time to change society,” adding how the situation was no different during the release of his 2018 drama ‘Pad Man’.

‘OMG 2’ was pushed for review by CBFC in July this year, almost a month after Prabhas starrer ‘Adipurush’ faced huge backlash from the audience. Eventually, ‘OMG 2’ was given an ‘A – Adults Only’ certificate from the censor board in India.
