5 Times When Salman Khan's Life Was Threatened

Actor Salman Khan and his family receive death threats more often. Since 2022, the death threats have increased and his security has been beefed up. Here are the times Salman received threats.

Being a celebrity is not an easy job. They are always under public scrutiny and over the years several celebs have received death threats. One such is Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The 58-year-old actor has been living in a state of fear. He and his family have been receiving death threats that have raised concern among his fans and well-wishers. While some are sending letters threatening him, some illegally enter into his properties. However, Khan's security is been tightened after the death threats. He also purchased a bulletproof Nissan SUV. Salman has been provided Y+ category security by the Maharashtra government. 

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Panvel Rural Police Station against two people- Ajesh Kumar Gila and Gurusevaksingh Sikh from Fazilka district, Punjab. They were arrested by Panvel taluka police for attempting to enter Salman Khan's farmhouse in Waje village, Panvel.

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi once vowed to assassinate Salman Khan

Lawrence Bishnoi's threatened to kill Salman Khan back in 2018. Not many of you might know that during a court appearance in 2018, Bishnoi made a statement, "We will kill Salman Khan in Jodhpur. Everyone will know once we take action. I have not done anything as of now, they are accusing me of crimes for no reason." Reports stated that he was ordered to kill Salman as punishment for the blackbuck hunting case of 1998 when he was shooting for Sooraj Barjatya's 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in Rajasthan.

It is to be noted that blackbucks are considered sacred by the Bishnoi community.

Salman Khan received a death threat after Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala's death in 2022

After the death of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in May 2022, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan received a death threat. In June, Salim Khan found a letter on a bench in Bandra where he sits after jogging in the morning. In the letter, it was written that Salman and his father would meet the same fate as Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala who was allegedly killed by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. For the unversed, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is the same which had threatened Salman Khan in 2018 and the death threat to Salman was linked to the blackbuck poaching case of 1998, in which the actor was one of the accused.

As per reports, "The gang was preparing to extort money from big businessmen and actors''. 

On June 8, Delhi Police said that Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind behind the killing of Moose Wala.

Salman received a fresh threat via e-mail

In March 2023, the 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' actor received yet another death threat via an e-mail. A close associate of Salman received the e-mail where there was a reference to an interview by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, wherein he claimed that his main goal in life was to kill the actor.

Based on a complaint lodged, the Mumbai Police registered a case against gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar in connection with the threat e-mail to Salman Khan. The security outside Salman's residence was tightened. 

'Dabangg' star got another death threat, via call

He received a fresh death threat from a man from Jodhpur, Rajasthan who was a "cow-protector" and he reportedly threatened to kill Salman on April 30. It was a death threat call that was made to the Mumbai Police control room at 9 pm on April 10. The caller identified himself as Rocky Bhai, from Jodhpur. Mumbai Police started investigating this case and located the whereabouts of the caller. Police detained a 16-year-old boy from Mumbai's Thane. He hailed from Rajasthan and was allegedly threatening to kill Salman Khan, an official said.

Salman Khan received threat again in November 2023

In November 2023, Salman received a fresh death threat amidst security, as per a report in ANI. Mumbai Police did a security review for the actor after he received a threat on Facebook by an account that claimed to be gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The FB account had Bishnoi's photo as a profile pic. The post was addressed to Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal. The same issued a warning to the 'Tiger 3' actor as well. 

It is to be noted that Lawrence Bishnoi is currently in jail in a drugs smuggling case which is investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
