‘Mumbaikar’ Actor Ishan Mishra On Playing A Journalist In ‘Ajmer 92’: It Helped Me To Push My Artistic Boundaries

The actor recently got candid about his role, experience working the film and its USP. 

Actor Ishan Mishra, who was last seen in ‘Mumbaikar’ featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Vikrant Massey and others and has been part of projects like ‘Janhit Mein Jari’, ‘Laakhon Mein Ek 2’ and ‘It’s Not That Simple 2’, is all set to play a journalist in ‘Ajmer 92’.

Directed by Pushpendra Singh, the movie talks about the hard-hitting story of nearly 250 girls who were sexually exploited and blackmailed in the town, located in Rajasthan.

The actor recently got candid about his role, experience working the film and its USP. Ishan shared, "In Ajmer 92, I take on the challenging and exhilarating role of a Journalist. As an intrepid seeker of truth, I delve into the depths of complex stories, uncovering hidden realities and shedding light on important issues. This role helped me to push my artistic boundaries and allowed me to showcase my versatility. The character's experience was very compelling and was a strong motivation. Also, there is a social impact because the film sheds light on important social issues."

Sharing about how he prepped for the character, he mentioned, "The preparation was done through a combination of research, rehearsal, and emotional exploration. Throughout the preparation process, I collaborated closely with the director, discussing character interpretations and incorporating his vision into my performance. It was actually interesting to work on the dialect. The film is based in Rajasthan and had to pick up the local accent and dialect. I had long discussions about the language with one of my friends who comes from that part and really helped me master the same."

Talking about the subject of the film, he stated, "The film is based on real incidents which happened way back in the year 1992. As the trailer reveals that there were rapes and blackmailing of hundreds of girls and the film brings out the stories of those times. It is centered around social issues that are often relevant to real-world problems and challenges. It tackles social issues that affect our society, making it relatable to a wide audience. The film sheds light on overlooked issues, encouraging viewers to become more socially conscious."

Describing his working experience in the film, he said, "The film has an ensemble with multiple talented actors. When an ensemble cast works well together, their chemistry can enhance the authenticity of the relationships portrayed on screen. It created a positive atmosphere on the set, fostering creativity and camaraderie among the actors and crew."

‘Ajmer 92’ is set to release on July 21, 2023.
