The Kanwar Yatra presents itself before us today in a new form. The traditions remain the same: the bringing of Ganga Jal from Haridwar, Gomukh and other sacred places and offering it at Shiva temples, and they continue to be observed. However, the landscape has changed. Young people dancing to DJ beats, Kanwars adorned with high-tech decorations, convoys of motorcycles, and moments being captured every second on mobile phone cameras – this is the new reality. Seeing this transformation, some people question the new form of the yatra. They do not consider it appropriate. But is their objection really justified? If we look closely, this is a transformation in the expression of faith that is connecting the present generation with spirituality and presenting a new picture of the Kanwar Yatra.
