Cricket Board secretary Jaywant Lele today dismissedreports alleging Indian cricketers took steroids to enhance performance and saidBCCI was contemplating legal action against the "reckless reportage"on the issue.

"We will take up the matter at the workingcommittee meeting of BCCI scheduled to be held in August. Only then we willdecide what course of action should be taken against 'Outlook' for making suchwild allegations. If necessary, we would even take recourse to legalaction," he said reacting to a report in a weekly that alleged the Indiancricketers took banned drugs.

"I know it is all 'bakwas' (nonsense). Moreover, Ihad talked to Gaekwad regarding this and he has denied making any suchstatements," Lele told PTI here.

The 'Outlook' magazine had quoted former Indian coachAnshuman Gaekwad as saying that some Indian players are in the habit of takingbanned preparations.

"No player ever took performance-enhancing drugsnow or ever. The report is all bakwas," he fumed when asked whether he wasaware of any such unhealthy practice among cricketers.

Asked whether BCCI has issued any instructions askingplayers not to take drugs after the controversy erupted, Lele said such aquestion did not arise. "With nothing of this sort existing, should weissue instructions to the players?" he asked.

Lele said the Indian team currently in Zimbabwe wasvery upset with the report. "Farak to padega (certainly it would have someimpact). Boys are very upset." "I had a talk with the Indian teammanagement and asked them not to worry about such baseless reports and carry onthe good work. But it did have a demoralising effect," Lele said.
