I pause before a huge Jain statue to catch my breath. Its face is dignified despite the beehive hanging off its chin like a goatee. At least it still has a face - many of the other statues carved into the hillside have had theirs gouged out. Eyeing the rest of the road, I hope it's worth the climb.
