People's Democratic Party (PDP) chairman Abdul Nasar Madani who is a prime accused in the 2008 Bengaluru serial bomb blasts case was allowed to travel to Kerala for his medical treatment by the Supreme Court on Monday.
The top court bench comprising Justices A S Bopanna and M M Sundresh modified the bail condition of Madani which had directed him to stay in Bengaluru till the completion of his trial.
The bench said, "In modification of the order dated July 11, 2014, we permit the applicant to travel to his hometown in Kerala and stay there." They added, "However, to ensure that the applicant is adhering to all other requirements, we direct that the appellant will report to the Station House Officer of the nearest police in Kollam district, once in 15 days."

In 2014, Madani was granted bail by the Supreme Court due to his health condition but the order directed him to not leave Bengaluru.
The apex court in April 2023 allowed Madani to visit his ailing parents in Kerala accompanied by the Karnataka Police escort and return in the same manner.
The High Court had also mentioned back then, “The charges for the same shall be borne by the applicant himself. It is open for the State of Karnataka to take all such precautions to ensure that the applicant does not abuse the liberty granted."
Bangalore serial blast cases that happened on July 25, 2008, killed two people and injured 20 others after nine bombs exploded in the city and Abdul Nasar Madani is the prime accused in it.
